ABOUT
Laura Davis
Laura Davis has worked as a Nurse Practitioner in the Sports Medicine program at Muir Orthopaedic Specialists since 2009. With a background as a registered nurse, Laura places a strong emphasis on patient education. Laura also assists in surgery, which contributes to her ability to provide continuity of care. Her focus on getting her patients on the road to recovery while minimizing downtime makes Laura an asset to the Sports Medicine program at MOS.
Laura works with Dr. Michlitsch and Dr. Preston in the clinic where patients can make appointments with her for initial evaluation, injections, diagnostic testing, and guidance through diagnosis and recovery. She has worked with a wide range of people from different backgrounds. With more than 10 years of practice in orthopedics, she has developed a unique niche as a provider. She is skilled in performing ultrasound guided injections for all joints in the body. Her extensive diagnostic experience often allows her to perform same-day diagnostics for injuries.
Laura is an East Bay native who completed her undergraduate studies at Stanford University in Human Biology with a focus on infectious disease and public health. She was an All American athlete for Stanford’s Varsity Swim Team and was a member of the USA national swim team.
Laura completed her master’s degree at Samuel Merritt University. Her enthusiasm for sports medicine and orthopedics developed through her athletic career and during her involvement treating sports injuries in the physical therapy department of Stanford’s health clinic.
Laura also teaches at Samuel Merritt University as an adjunct associate instructor for the Nurse Practitioner masters students in the splinting casting lab and musculoskeletal medicine lectures. In her off time, she enjoys swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, running, hiking, and wakeboarding.
