Dr. Griffiths and the team at Alta Bates/Sutter Oakland were AWESOME! I was super stressed when I came to his office! I was in extreme pain and in tears! Sean was kind to me…and told me he was going forward with my hip replacement. He was the first doctor in 3 years to take me seriously! My surgery was two months ago!! I am walking again!!! Dr. Griffith had the “honor” of my third Orthopedic replacement operation in three years. The first two were my left hip and then my right hip and now it was time for my right knee replacement. I studied the process of robotic knee replacement and it seemed perfect for me. When I met Dr. Griffith he also seemed perfect and his calm and comedic manner was exactly what I needed. In the operating room, he barely blinked when I said you can’t knock me out until I meet Rosa the Robot that’s doing the surgery with you—so I got to meet the robot and then they put me out for the surgery. I was walking that day. Spent three days in the hospital walking around and then went to Shadeland‘s acute care facility where I was for nine days before I saw Dr. Griffith again. At this time, he took my walker away and said you can use a cane, but you don’t need to use anything else , and this was less than two weeks after the surgery of a right knee replacement! I was driving within a couple of days! Like any surgery, there’s been some little situations along the way —I’ve had to go back into PT after a fall to take care of myself, but Dr. Griffith has been patient, kind, and very skilled and I would heartily recommend him. Plus I have a minimal scar, barely noticeable from a total knee replacement! Thank you to Dr. Griffith and the staff at Golden West Orthopedic!

Dr Griffiths was introduced to me by another surgeon since i had a very bad knee he thought Dr griffiths can take care of it better than him. and let me tell you he was so right . at the beginning i was so scared because everyone told me its so painful but he made me sure that i will be fine and i was well by next day it wasn't that painful and now its been 3 months my knee is doing pretty good. I cant recommend him enough he treats you as his family he listens to you well and he makes sure his patient is happy with his work ! Anyone needing hip replacement surgery, Dr. Sean Griffiths at Golden State Orthopedics in Walnut Creek is an excellent surgeon with great bedside manner and communication skills. He is both professional and personable, and his team in the office and at John Muir hospital is highly professional and competent while being kind and supportive. Everyone from nurses Rich, Maggie and Anne, Dr. Tran, my anesthesiologist, and others provided an impressive level of care and concern. I cannot say enough about the young people who cared for me during this process.

Three Months Post-op: I was very pleased with my total knee replacement performed by Dr. Griffiths in April. I found him to be very personable and easy to talk to. I noticed a definite improvement in my recovery since my surgery to the point where I’m almost able to do all the activities I was doing before the surgery. I’m back to the gym and cycling five time per week and able to walk at least 1 mile.

Dr Sean Griffiths had my complete trust in him as a surgeon at our first consultation almost a year ago. Since then he has done a fabulous job doing my right knee replacement and preparing me for my left knee replacement next month. He makes feel I am in the best hands with the confidence he has. Dr. Sean Griffiths did perfect job I came him after having severely damage to my hip and femur bone it was practically shattered I thought I would be in pain and have a permanent limp forever. After Dr. Griffiths examined me he knew immediately that it was going to take an hip replacement to fix the problem we did all the procedures to get pre-surgery ready. Once we had the surgery it was like my leg was fixed in a blink of an eye. Brand new it was like I had never been injured I was up and walking literally the next day. Dr. Sean Griffiths has replaced both my hips in the last ten months and if there’s a better orthopedic surgeon out there, well, with all due respect, I wouldn’t believe you. He and the remarkable team at Golden State Orthopedics and Spine, from start to finish, have provided the most attentive and professional care. Every pre-surgical appointment was thorough in accessing my particular situation and in answering every question and concern I had. On the surgery dates Dr. Griffiths spent time with me both before and after surgery putting me at ease while monitoring my condition and his bedside manner is professional while being warm, friendly, and assuring. I came to not only trust in his ability completely but in appreciating his presence at such a vulnerable time as when being a patient. Both surgeries came off flawlessly from my perspective and within a few hours post surgery, aided by a walker and a physical therapist I was walking short distances without pain. Within days I easily transitioned to a cane and two weeks later was walking unaided. As a patient I went through the full course of physical therapy Dr. Griffith prescribed for me that aided in my rapid and complete healing. At this time, one week out from the second surgery I have the expected stiffness and swelling but no pain, no limp, and no sense that I’m walking on anything other than two healthy hips. To say that I’m pleased with my experience and results is a grand understatement. As an important side note I would add that on my first consultation I arrived overweight, with a BMI of just under 40, and not in the best of health. Dr. Griffiths recommended graciously and without judgment that for the best results and to reduce the risk of any complications from surgery I work to lower those numbers. By my first surgery I had worked to lower my BMI to 35 and by my second surgery I had my BMI to 29. Throughout this time Dr. Griffiths was so incredibly enthusiastic and supportive of the progress I was making that he served as extra motivation for me to stay the course and continue the work. So here I am, with two shiny new fully-functioning hips, and a healthy, fresh start on life at the age of 67 thanks to Dr. Sean Griffiths. I can’t begin to recommend him strongly enough if you live in the Bay Area and are looking for an orthopedic surgeon and team that specializes in hips and knees.

Yes, I just wanted to say that, My experience with Doctor Griffiths has been a 5 star experience from the beginning to the end. His Team took great care of me . When I met Doctor Griffths I was in a wheelchair Couldn't stand or walk. I got my right hip replaced now I'm walking with my Walker making great strides in physical therapy. Dr. Grifffiths did a hip replacement on my 90 year old mother. The surgery was a great success with minimal downtime for her recovery. Dr. Griffiths and his care team are wonderful, even with a very busy schedule if the need is essential they will arrange for you to be seen. My care to date has been five star, I am awaiting a knee surgery and insurance is being picky, yet Dr. Griffiths and his team are aggressive in getting approval and for us to move forward. Dr. Griffiths is an outstanding doctor-- he was so personable and well-spoken, knowledgeable, listens well, explains well. He took his time thoroughly explained every bit of the procedure of the knee revision after the X-ray reviewed that the knee replacement I did was just placed without attachment. I never knew I had no knee for two years until I met Dr. Sean Griffiths. I had total knee replacement 2021 at Kaiser, I never walk well, I thought it was a healing process until I had a fall after four months I went back to work. Which took me back to ER and I was told everything was fine. I became shadow of my self. Started falling like a toy, until the last fall that happened February 26th 2023 that took me to Golden Orthopedic hospital for ankle fracture, After four months of treatment of the ankle Dr Sean took over my knee revision and did a marvelous job that now I walk like human being no leaping, no falling again. I will forever remain grateful to God Almighty and to Dr Sean Griffiths for a perfect surgery he carried on me. I have already started giving out recommendations to people. Dr. Griffiths did a great job replacing my hip with the latest surgical technique. I am sure I recovered very quickly because the procedure was done with minimal damage to surroundings muscles and tissue. I highly recommend him and his support staff. The rehabilitation post op was excellent as well. I was walking around without a cane within one month, with more mobility than before surgery. At 2 months I have been working my construction job for a month already am biking, hiking and in another month should be playing soccer again. My only regret is not having the surgery a year earlier!!! By the way I am 60 years young.

I saw Dr Griffiths, for the first time, on short notice for an arthritic knee flare up and was grateful to get in so quickly, which explains the long wait - other MD's at the orthopedic clinic were out and he was slammed. I'm sure they double booked me to squeeze me in. This being the case, Dr Griffiths and his staff did a wonderful job ! He's humble, caring, generous with his time, and gave me the cortisone shot I requested. Five days after the shot, I was quite distressed that I had not responded as well as I'd hoped so I urgently called the main number and Ann sent a message to his staff, who were at the Oakland office. Within 2 hours I got a call from Jessica, (Dr Griffiths' assistant) who immediately sent an order for gel injections for insurance approval. This is the kind of care I hoped for and so far I am grateful for the results !

Dr. Griffits is a "Top Notch" surgeon. He was very patient in answering all of my questions even the night before my surgery. At that time he was in the office & I talked with his PA & told him that I wanted to speak to him as I was really scared. Time was made in between his seeing a patient who needed an injection & talking to me. In those few minutes he took the time to talk to me and answered big question of "What are you going to do tomorrow?" I again felt assured that I had made the right decision by choosing him to do a "Total Knee Surgery" with him. I am now entering my ninth week & am walking without the drudgery of dragging my affected right "Bone on Bone Pain". Rehab has not been easy especially for the first 3 weeks. But it's been better than I expected it would be.

I was referred to Dr. Griffiths when my original Orthopedist realized that I would need full knees replacement, ftom the first contact everything went smooth and timely to culminate with two very successful surgeries one on each knee with a recovery time of 4 weeks, on the fifth week after surgery I was walking on my own surprasing everyone including myself. I am so grateful to have met him during my recent misfortune of a broken fibula and fractured ankle. My wait wasn't too long once my appointment was confirmed. This doctor was my new doctor as my previous had retired, I was apprehensive not knowing what this new doctor demeanor was going to be. He's young and I was surprised, I felt comfortable with him right away. He spoke well didnt beat around the bush, tackled my situation forthright and had me out of there. I felt better overnight. On April 5th Dr. Griffith did a full knee replacement on my left leg—which was necessary since I had fallen and seriously damaged my knee (which already had a prosthetic in place due to previous injuries). Dr. Griffith gave me a clear idea of the best options available for this type of surgery (easy to understand) then performed the surgery ASAP. Post op he gave me a brief but complete review of the surgery results. I always felt I was “in the loop” regarding the process. My experience was great. Dr Griffin was polite and caring. He made sure that he understood what my injury was and why I need it to be completely healed. He promised me that I would be ready for my first year of college football. He made sure that my follow up appointment was booked right away and that I could start my PT not only right away but he made sure that I am getting the right treatment.

I was able to see Dr. Griffiths the same day I called for the appointment. I was so pleased because I'd been dealing with a painful knee issue and knew I needed to get some help as soon as possible. Dr. Griffiths took the time to listen to my issue and then proceeded to schedule me for an MRI and follow up appointment. I was able to get the MRI and see him within the following week. It was so refreshing to find a doctor who really listened, didn't rush, is personable and truly caring. I underwent PT and began to improve but then had a set back. I then scheduled another appointment with Dr. Griffiths in which he again listened carefully and determined I would benefit from more PT. The more I exercised my knee and followed a workout routine, the more I improved. He encouraged me to keep at it and didn't push for any further treatment. I am so grateful to have found such a competent and compassionate doctor and highly recommend him without any hesitation.

I came to visit the doctor for some pain on the side near my hip. The staff, a Golden State, is quick, Very efficient and pleasant. The doctor saw me right away. He gave me plenty of time to explain my situation examined me and then they took x-rays. After the review of the x-rays he determined that my situation was not serious and he explained succinctly what was going on. Was happy with the results and he gave me exercises to work on.
