I recently had the privilege of being under the care of Dr. Charles Preston at Golden State Orthopedics & Spine, and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff were incredibly attentive. Dr. Charles Preston demonstrated a deep understanding of my issues and took the time to explain everything in detail, ensuring I felt informed and comfortable throughout the process. Overall, my experience with Dr. Charles Preston and his assistant Dawn Trapp exceeded my expectations, and I would highly recommend them to anyone in need of orthopedic care. Thank you for your continued great overall service since 2012!
I am so very happy with the care and attention I receive as Dr. Preston's patient. In my case, Dr. Preston found an undiscovered left rotator tear, requiring surgery, which had bothered me for years. With Dr. Preston and staff's professionalism, he goes the extra mile to treat and care for his patients, and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an Orthopedic physician.

Dr Preston has helped with my knee pain over the past several years. Great listener and bedside manner!
Dr. Charles Preston , Golden State Orthopedics, performed an operation I needed with very good results and exceptional care. Very professionally organized facility with staff that is caring and well trained. Doctor does not say a lot at the visit unless you have a good precise question. He is responding with also precise answer and clearing the doubts. The instructions provided for after operation period need to be well studied and followed (for me was important to use common sense knowing my own body specifics related to painkillers drugs). Great thank you and my deep respect to DR. Preston.
Dr person is great. Knowledgeable but take the time to explain to ensure that you understand what the your issue is how it came about and the possibilities of how to resolve it.

Great orthopedist!. He is skilled enough not to over-treat. He's encouraging, informative, and very clear about diagnosis. I was thoroughly pleased with his care.
A few years ago I began experiencing shoulder pain that would come and go. At this point, I believe that I just stressed my shoulder joints due to work related activity, and since I no longer heal as quickly as I did when younger, it's my consensus that it ultimately lead to torn/detached tendons. I initially got some temporary relief from cortisone shots, but in a few months the pain would return, and after 2 shots it was no longer an option. An MRI confirmed the problem to be a torn rotator cuff. Specifically, the supraspinatus tendon, which is associated with the movement to raise the upper arm laterally. It ultimately became so painful, I couldn't raise my right arm without assistance from my left arm. Against advice, I continued to work, as I had planned to retire from a 30 year employment within 6 months and decided to put the surgery off until after. I had heard and read several descriptions and prognoses that weren't giving me a high degree of confidence with the likelihood of success from this surgical procedure. My usual Ortho, Dr. Tischenko, was unable to perform the surgery himself, at that time, and so he referred me to Dr Charles Preston. I've always held Dr Tischenko's advice in high esteem, so with his recommendation, I moved forward with scheduling the surgery. Torn rotator cuff surgery typically takes considerably longer to heal than other procedures. It requires full immobilization of the arm for 4 weeks with a fixed brace, and then a slow gradual return of use with lots of stretching and then after 3 months, gradual strengthening with physical therapy. I won't mislead you, the recovery period is both painful, and extremely debilitating. Of course, the injury itself had already left me with these conditions. In my case, I'm right handed, and had to use my left hand/arm for everything during the recovery. I had practiced a bit using my left before the surgery so I wouldn't be unprepared when the time came. For the first month, while wearing the brace, about the only way you can sleep, is in a recliner. Laying flat just doesn't work, so plan for this issue if you're contemplating torn rotator cuff surgery. I am presently 3 1/2 months past my surgery. I opted to perform my own physical therapy using a series of procedures I found on YouTube. I combined all I found there with some stretching and exercises provided by Muir Ortho. The stretching is somewhat painful, but essential to return your muscles and tendons to full usage. If you stick with it religiously, they will get you back to being pain free and a full recovery. I was told it can take 6 to 12 months to completely recover, but for me, I truly believe I'm at well over 90% after the 3 1/2 months since the surgery. I'm at virtually full range of motion, and feel confident lifting as much as 40 pounds, so long as I lift slowly and with correct posture. I am extremely pleased with the outcome, and would recommend Dr Preston and his staff without reservation. They are extremely knowledgeable, skilled, and considerate, and will prepare you for every phase of the process. One final recommendation I would offer for any shoulder surgery, I found a somewhat expensive, but VERY workable T-shirt on Amazon that has snaps on both sides that allow you to don and remove it even with your arm in a sling. The brand is "Mai". You can find them on Amazon for about $48 each. All cotton and extremely comfortable and stretchy. I know it sounds like a lot for a t-shirt, but being able to put them on and take them off by snapping is well worth it. I ordered a size larger than I usually wear, and it worked out perfectly. Good luck if you need the surgery, but do consider Dr Preston if you want the best outcome. I wouldn't hesitate to call on him again, if needed.
I Tore my ACL and damaged my meniscus snowboarding in December of 2018, just before the new year. Within four weeks of the accident, Doctor Preston replaced my ACL and repaired my meniscus. He and his team were fantastic and communicated very well throughout the entire process. Literally four weeks later I was riding my bike again, albeit very slowly and very cautiously. 3 months after the accident I was snowshoeing and hiking in the mountains. 12 months after the accident had occurred, I was back to snowboarding. After a lifetime of abusing my knees, I can honestly say that my left knee, the knee I had injured, is stronger than it was before the injury. Hats off to the Muir Orthopedic Team and to Doctor Preston!
I have a knee problem that has been bothering me for awhile. I have seen many doctors with no relief. However, when I started seeing Dr. Preston for my knee, he knew exactly what was wrong and provided the right treatment to relieve the pain. I highly recommend him to anyone!!!
One of the best Orthopaedic doctors I've had the pleasure of working with! You can immediately tell it's a good office when you walk into the facility. He not only provided great treatment & advice but his physical therapy staff was top notch!
Dr. Preston has always been professional friendly and kind with myself and my family. Every time I'm with him I learned something new. He is patient and listens to our needs. His staff and office team are always kind and respectful. I am always referring doctor Preston to everyone I know.
Dr. Preston is an excellent surgeon. He did surgery on my shoulder and continued with several follow- up visits during my healing process. All of his staff are very courteous , answer the phone right away, send you messages to remind you of your appointments. His surgical staff were great. His PA, Laura Davies always checked on me, answered all of my questions, kept me well informed of " the recovery process and got me set up with Physical Therapy when it was time. Highly recommend Dr. Preston and his staff
Doctor Preston has performed 3 Surgery's on me personally. All 3 with great results. (I am now 50 ) but still very active. He has Also performed 3 different ACL repairs on my sons (all separate. Part of what makes Dr.Preston awesome he is not a cut first ask question later doc. He will look for best course of action to give you best outcome. Not just push for surgery or unnecessary tests. Also his sports medicine background is great for the older (me ) athlete but also great with high performance athletes. He is team Doc for a number of local Big time schools, High school and college. So connects will with young men and woman. Highly recommend him for any of your Otto needs.
I had a really good first visit with Dr. Preston. 2 years of shoulder pains and his Physician's Assistant figured out what was wrong in a matter of minutes. Quick shot and a follow-up scheduled - 20 minutes and on my way back to work. Perfect. His P.A. was really terrific.
Dr Preston did a great job on my shoulder.
My husband had Dr. Preston as a surgeon, he was fabulous. If you are looking for a competent doctor who is truly gifted, he is the man for you! :) Dr. Preston is awesome!
