Dr Schilling is an awesome listener. I’m a new patient. He treats me like I’ve been seeing him for years. I’ve had right shoulder pain for decades. I’ve been treated with steroid injections, physical therapy, acupuncture and heat therapy. They kept my pain at bay for all these years. Ultimately as the Dr’s predicted the pain has returned. Nothing is helping. I had my X-ray with Dr Schilling and now an MRI. To be continued on my follow up visit. I’m very happy and pleased with Dr Schilling. So far so good👍🏾

Dr Schilling is an excellent surgeon, as well as a compassionate human being. He is attentive, listens to his patient carefully, and then recommends the best course of action, making sure everyone is on the same page and the patient understands. He never makes you feel rushed. One of the most important ways to choose the finest doctor is to ask that doctor’s staff about him/her. I did this with at least three – nurses, anesthesiologist, tech, etc., and they all sincerely gave Dr. Schilling very high praise for being one of the finest doctors they’ve ever worked with, as well as one of the kindest men they had known.

Dr. Schilling has a friendly office manner. I was very happy to see he didn't recommend surgery for the swollen gland on my finger. His recommended non-invasive treatment worked great and my finger is almost back to normal.

He's so good I'm going back for more! Seriously, i had De Quervain's tendinosis in my right wrist that was so painful it would wake me up at night. Other doctors gave me steroid injections and they helped for a time but it came back. 5 minutes with Dr. Schilling and he was able to explain that steroids we'ren't helping and surgery was my best option. It's been 6 months and i'm pain free in my right wrist. My left wrist is acting up and I would trust no one else with my care. Here I go again!

I visited Dr Schilling on 6/14 to discuss some serious pain I was having with my right wrist that had previous surgery 14 years ago. Dr. Shilling listened to me, told me my step by step options, and gave me a steroidal injection right in the center spot on my wrist he thought would give me the most relief. He hit it dead on. I felt almost 90% relief by the next day. Dr Schilling is a specialist, and I cannot give him a higher rating than 5 stars here but he deserves more. Dr. John P. Schilling has been treating me for severe arthritis in my hands and wrists for a number of years. He is very professional, listens patiently to my symptoms, discusses possible treatments with me in detail, and has never pushed me to surgery, preferring conservative treatments. When my right hand became virtually useless due to severe arthritis in a bone in my wrist and injections were only helping for a couple months, I asked him to perform right wrist reconstruction surgery, which he did on July 14, 2023. It had gotten so bad, I couldn't even button my shirts. Now I can not only button my shirts, I can repair things around my house, work in my yard, hold my Canon EOS 5D Mark III to do photography, and most anything else I want to do. Dr. Schilling is an excellent doctor and surgeon for anything from the shoulder to the fingers. I trust him.

One of the less pleasant aspects of age (I'm 71) is a general stiffening of the joints -- usually due to osteoarthritis. A big word, but in reality if you're going to have arthritis, choose this one over rheumatoid arthritis. Osteoarthritis is joint pain caused by the wearing down over time of the cartilage that lubricates bones wherever they meet. For many, this is most evident in the hands. Over the course of a year, my ring finger's middle joint began complaining whenever I clenched my hand or typed too fast. My family doctor referred me to Dr. Schilling. Dr. Shilling checked my x-ray and confirmed that indeed I was experiencing osteoarthritis. He injected a steroid into my affected joint (less painful than it sounds) and after a few days the pain vanished and I was no longer experiencing pain while typing or riding my bike or other important stuff retirees do. As it goes with steroids, after a few months the pain gradually returned. And it had company. My right hand’s thumb joint began to ache as I carried out mundane activities. So I revisited Dr. Schilling and got both pain points dealt with, once again by steroid injection. Seeing Dr. Schilling is always a pleasure, not only because his accuracy at placing the steroid is dead-on, but also because he goes out of his way to be friendly and personable. I don’t feel like a number as I do in some other doctors’ offices. I will always be grateful to Dr. Schilling for helping me adjust to getting older, with the assurance that modern medicine, delivered the old-fashioned way, is helping to ease my transition into the "golden years."

I am an administrator in a hospital, so I meet many physicians and providers. With that said, I have to say that Dr. Schilling is one of the kindest and most compassionate provider I have ever met. My husband had a terrible experience with a previous John Muir orthopedic surgeon. After six months of chronic pain, we sought a recommendation from a physical therapist. The PT referred us to Dr. Schilling and we are so grateful and blessed that we have met him. After months of uncertainty and fear, we were finally able to take a moment and feel some sense of relief.  Upon meeting Dr. Schilling, he immediately walked my husband through the entire process. I am sitting at a nice restaurant and I looked down at my wrist. 1 year and 3 months ago I had surgery on my left inner wrist. Well...i noticed u can hardly see the stitch marks and scar from the operation that was performed by Dr. John Schilling..muir orthopedics. From my 1st consultation with him to post operation exams...he was the BEST. COMPASSION, sincere CARING, and stellar knowledge in his treating me was simply THE BEST. IF you ever need a Doctor in this field...you won't find a better surgeon then Dr. JOHN SHILLING.

Dr. Schilling is very skilled, and just as important, he is genuinely caring about his patients and consistent with the ideals of a physician, that is, to treat and make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients.  In today's busy practice setting, laden with insurance processes and other administrative items, it's easy to get distracted and lose sight of the reasons why you chose this profession, but I can tell Dr. Schilling takes a lot of pride in his work as a surgeon and really wants to help others.  I speak as a fellow health care professional coming from a family with plenty of HCP's.  He's a good guy.

I took my 14 year old to see Dr Schilling after injuring his hand. I am a nurse and am very particular about the doctors my family sees. I was very impressed with Dr Schilling and his office. The office is newer and very clean. Registration was prompt and I was seen at exactly my scheduled time. Dr Schilling is a hand specialist and was very knowledgeable, thorough, cautious, and has excellent bedside manner. His staff did a great job applying the cast on my son. They were friendly and funny keeping my son at ease. We really lucked out coming to this office and I highly recommend him.

Just over a year ago, I fell and broke a bone in my wrist...I made an appt. with Dr. Schilling upon the advice of my regular doctor. Dr. Schilling was on time, answered all my questions! Did the surgery to restore my wrist...great doctor!

My 90 year old father fell and fractured his elbow.  Dr. Schilling performed surgery and did a remarkable job piecing together all the bone fragments.  My father was virtually pain free within a few days after the surgery and the bones have healed quite nicely.  Dr. Schilling has an excellent bedside manner, takes his time, explains everything and listens.  I highly recommend him.
