FEATURED TESTIMONIAL
As a doctor myself, I can be picky with the doctors providing my care. Especially when it comes to possible career altering procedures. I could not have found a better surgeon, or individual, than Dr. Stuffmann. As others have noted, he listens to you, and his training and ethics have taught him to never lose sight of the big picture. This wonderful trait may cause him to run behind, as it does me. But the wait is well worth it! In medicine we can do everything right and still have a bad outcome, but diagnostic and hand skills can tilt this in your favor. Dr. Stuffmann possesses both of these qualities. In my case I had just the opposite result and feel it is the result of Dr Stuffmann’s skill and knowledge. He performed a nerve moving procedure on the ulnar nerve in my right elbow to eliminate pain and numbness in my hand; critical to my profession. I sit here one day post-op with minimal discomfort (OTC Ibuprofen handles it nicely), and 90% of my numb hand is back to normal.

About Dr Stuffmann
Had a mad break to my collarbone that required surgery. Dr Stuffmann and his staff to great care of me. Got all my paperwork back to me promptly and didn’t have any issues with billing or appointments. Great people highly recommended.
Dr Eric Stuffman and PA Stephen Powers figured out how to relieve my chronic hand pain in 15 minutes, compared to the 13 years I'd spent trying to get someone to believe me, much less help. They then did thorough testing, and Dr Stuffman carried out 2 surgeries, both of which went well. While I continue to live with some pain, it is dramatically reduced in both severity + frequency, and my quality of life is improved. Thank you Dr Stuffman and PA Powers.
Dr Stuffman was pleasant but very honest with my situation. He didn't pressure me but gave me options on how to proceed. He was confident and knowledgeable. Great experience!
Dr. Stuffmann has always shown professionalism and care while in his care. He has performed a successful Basal thumb arthritis surgery on myself and has also performed a successful trigger surgery on both of my wife’s hands. I highly recommend him for any upper extremity issues.
Very nice and up front i was in a serious bike accident and he fixed me up let me talk to him how I was feeling and going thru very professional
Dr. Stuffmann is very thorough and detailed!! Will listen to your problem, examine the area, have you test it out, and explain in detail what is going on. Very professional.
I was referred to Dr. Stuffman. He was on time, and very friendly. Acknowledged my friend who referred him. But more than that he was very gentle at administering the cortisone I need in my finger. Explained what was happening. Spoke of all the alternatives first. I will return to him.
Dr. Stuffman and the professionals at Golden State Orthopedic and Spine proved excellent treatment following a terrible fall. His expertise allowed me to safely resume normal activities with minimal downtime. Highly recommend!
Dr. Stuffmann is an incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and caring doctor. He has been thorough, giving me plenty of time to understand my diagnosis, treatment options, and surgical considerations, while making sure to thoughtfully answer all my questions. I know I’m in good hands!
I had a positive experience with Dr. Stuffman. He was meticulous and patient with me. I definitely recommend him and Golden State Ortho.
My visit was on time and Dr Stuffman was professional and empathic to my situation
Dr. Stuffman is an incredible person and an amazing surgeon. He fixed my husband’s wrist and elbow and he performed a tendon repair on my hand. For both surgeries, he explained the procedures very clearly and I felt confident in his abilities. Also, when he did my husband’s surgery it took more time than expected so he sent a nurse to inform me that everything was okay. I was touched by that. He is my favorite and best doctor I have ever worked with.
Went to see Dr. Stuffman for pre-op for Carpal tunnel on my right hand. Had the left hand done 3 months ago and it went well. Incision Was less than a 1/2”, no scar . I feel progress everyday. All my fingers were painful and tingling. The procedure is literally 7 minutes. Super quick and painless and was able to use my hand hours later. Very happy with the Doctor!!!
Dr. Stuffman repaired a botched endoscopic carpal tunnel release done by another doctor. I lost feeling in my right hand for almost one year after the initial surgery. Dr. Stuffman performed an open carpal tunnel release that restored the feeling.
Caring and explained that tears in the labrum (which I thought should be repaired when my rotator cuff was repaired) and ruptured biceps tendon are not normally treated with surgery. As much as a ruptured biceps tendon 12weeks post rotator cuff surgery can hurt (like a broken arm), the biceps tendon is a pain receptor(?) and it will take several months to a couple of years for the pain from the surgery to go away. Something I think maybe I should have been told in April shortly after my biceps tendon ruptured. Other surgeons should take as much time with their patients instead of being judgmental and dismissive.
Dr. Stuffman is fantastic. My son has a straight as an arrow arm again. My son likes him SO MUCH, he just broke his foot and was sad when he heard that he was going to have to see a different doctor because it was his foot.
Dr. Stuffman is the best. This was my first surgery and I was terrified. Dr. Stuffman sat with me to ensure all was ok. That meant a lot to me. The surgery went great and you can not tell I had surgery, No marks!!
Excellent, straightforward care! Highly recommend
His Is the Best doctor in California I’m sure I’m recommending my Angel Doctor Eric his is an Angel.

Dr. Stuffmann has always been kind and reassuring. Always listens to concerns you may have. And he is a skilled surgeon. I will recommend him to anyone I know. Plus he's genuinely a very nice person.
Having Dr Stuffman who can accurately diagnose and treat any issues with your hand is crucial, especially considering how important my hands are for me who do dental surgeries everyday. I had great results from his treatments and I have been seeing him for many years for different issues that he had resolved them quick and non invasively. I highly recommend Dr Stuffman and really appreciate his prompt response and being available anytime I needed him.

He's a great communicator, very caring, and willing to spend quality time talking to and connecting with his patients. One of the best doctors I've ever worked with. Wish I could give him 5 additional bonus stars!
Dr. Stuffman is amazing I was referred to him to get my cortisone injections for carpal tunnel. No pain, then he called me the next day to see how I was doing. The staff is professional and cares about the clients.
I had shoulder surgery in December 2023 by Dr. Stuffman. I was reluctant to under but it was necessary to keep my normal active life style. Dr. Stuffman was straight forward on the rehab time to get a solid repair before going back into tennis. I hated the nerve block, it went away in two days and after that I experienced no pain at all. I am in my seventh week after surgery and mainly getting my full range of motion with some resistant exercises. So far, I am very happy with Dr. Stuffman surgery, it feels like he did a great repair. Only time will tell but so far I am very happy with the outcome so far.
Dr. Stuffmann and his staff were professional and courteous during my visit. Dr Stuffman was patient, empathetic and listened carefully to my concern. After a thorough examination, he gave me instructions to help me with my ongoing tennis elbow.
Dr Eric Stuffman is amazing!! He’s the first hand specialist that has done anything significant to address the pain in both hands/fingers!
Dr. Stuffmann and staff provided excellent and professional care. I highly recommend Dr.Stuffman

Dr Stuffman is a simply marvelous physician. He is skilled, professional and compassionate. Exactly what you want in your doctor. After surgery on a Friday, I had a complication. He called me everyday to check on me. I know he was at soccer practice or something with his kid on Sunday but he still called me! They had me go into the Office on Monday for a quick check. Boy, did I feel cared for and important! I am all better now. Thank you Dr Stuffman!

Dr. Stuffman has been taking care of my right wrist for years with carefully placed cortisone shots, for which he uses ultrasound imaging. Recently, however, I needed surgery because I broke my other, left wrist in several places in a bad fall. He is an amazing surgeon and did an excellent surgery on a complicated fracture that healed better and more rapidly than I thought possible! He had to install a plate and some screws, neither of which can be felt at all. And he did such a fine clean cut that it's hardly visible now after only a couple of months, and I've regained full function in that hand. I would unreservedly recommend him to anyone for anything wrist and hand related! He is a also a kind and personable doctor with whom you can't go wrong.
Dr. Stuffmann is a great doctor. The facility is very nice too. Dr. Stuffmann and staff provided excellent and professional care. Easy to make an appointment. I highly recommend Dr. Stuffmann.

Example my left shoulder was in severe pain He made it better with a shot and the pain left immediately. I am very thankful for I was going on vacation the next day and had not I got the medical attention needed I would not have had a wonderful vacation!! Thank you Peace

After a few years of not making any progress with my nerve condition with other doctors , Dr Eric stuffman was able to identify a possible underlying cause and evidence of it was found after doing an mri in a short amount of time.
Dr. Eric Stuffmann Dr Stephen Powers and staff are very friendly and a wonderful team as a patient with golden state orthopedic they have taken very good care of me before and after my surgery I appreciate everything they have done for me. thank you
Such a warm and friendly environment. I felt respected and confident to ask questions and got clarity on procedures that were suggested. The exam seemed thorough. I didn't feel rushed as so often is the case with some professionals.
Dr. Stuffman did a successful surgery on my very complicated arm/elbow fractures. Two previous surgeons said they would not be able to do it. He pretty much put Humpty Dumpty back together again. Dr. Stuffman then went above and beyond on my post-op care to make sure I had the best outcome, which was surprisingly better than I had expected. He is skillful, thorough, thoughtful, and takes time to listen. I highly recommend him.
I feel almost back to my self, but I have a ways to go. Doctor Stuffmann and his staff did a very good job
When I broke my right wrist in May of 2022, I was a bit upset. I had had surgery in 2012 when I shattered my left elbow with lots of complications…I thought the potential for major nerve damage was as bad as before. Dr Stuffman said that I really needed surgery and there would not be complications from nerve damage. He was right. He was able to schedule my surgery the next Wednesday and he did a great job. We might have missed our trip to Spain but went on a fabulous trip in Italy 1.5 months later. Any concerns I had were addressed by him and/or his team right away! The best!!!!
The doctor and his staff are great. I always feel welcome. I've been coming there over 2yrs now and I highly recommend this office.
Saw Dr Stuffmann for a Wrist injury. Excellent Doctor, and the facility is very nice. They were able to X-Ray my Wrist during my visit, and immediately get the results. I highly recommend Dr. Stuffmann.
Dr Stuffmann was very through in his evaluation of my separated shoulder and healing process!
Dr. Eric Stuffmann is BEST surgeon. I have been seeing him since 2+ never ever had any issues. My hand surgery went well… I would recommend him… *******
Dr. Stuffman is very knowledgeable and details. He treated my trigger thumb. The receptionist is very helpful and nice.
Dr. Stuffman was thorough, and answered all my concerns. He put my mind at ease and gave me three possible ways to handle my issue. I appreciated that and would recommend him to anyone.
Great, honest, and friendly person. The staff is awesome.
Dr stuffman provided outstanding care. Excellent communication and he answered all my concerns along with his staff.Thank you
Dr Stuffman took X-rays of of my shoulder, explained the problem, offered options and completed the therapy in one visit. He was very professional, kindly and courteous. I would recommend him without question.
Dr. Stuffman has always listened to whatever issues I have had and always gave me options when possible to correct or improve my issues. I would highly recommend Dr Stuffman to anyone with orthopedic problems
Dr. Stuffmann has helped me with multiple fractures and has been an invaluable medical professional. He explains things well, and has always set me up with everything I need to know to recover fully. I highly recommend him for any hand, arm, or shoulder injury.
I hope you never need a surgeon but if you do Dr. Eric Stuffmann is as good as it gets. He performed surgery on my very fractured humerus which is not funny at all. He's very personable knowledgeable and gives you the feeling of ease and confidence His follow up care and support team are all 5 stars also. I am so grateful to him and his team.
Grateful for Golden’s patience
Dr Stuffman is a great surgeon who also communicates really well. I have seen him for two different sports injuries and I have gotten great outcomes. Highly recommend.
I fracture my right wrist and arm. Dr Stuffman used a titanium plate and 8 screws. Today the scar is barely visible. I never had pain or discomfort. He did a miracle. Never had a problem. I will recommend him in a heartbeat.
He's a good Doctor, He listens and answers if you have any questions. The only thing i didnt like was the wait time, they get busy.
Three years and I an only say that without his expertise I'd be crippled. If you have a problem DR Stuffmann is the top guy.
My experience with Dr. Eric Stuffmann was stellar. He ran down my case verbally with me instantly and I was immediately pleased. I expected to get the blank look. He went over my x-rays and MRI with me and gave me an unhurried and thorough exam. He dictated notes into a Alexa-like device and then answered my 58 questions in great detail often referring back to the x-ray or MRI. I was there for a second opinion and didn't feel he was looking for "more work" from me nor did I feel he was agreeing with the first opinion out of rote. He was the pinnacle of professionalism and obviously extremely skilled. If you read his bio for his education and training, it's impressive and tailor made for my specific injury. All in all, this was the most positive experience I've had with a physician in decades. I reserve the right to come back and edit this review if I get charged for anything that I'm not expecting but short of that, I can't recommend Dr. Stuffmann highly enough. If there was an option for more than 5 stars, I'd easily do that.

Dr Stuffmann is Five Star , he has done an awesome job on my right lower leg (tibia) . My wounds are healed and my bone is recovering at an awesome pace ....I am grateful that Dr Stuffmann was the surgeon to operate on me and I am happy that my injury is healing correctly .... Thank You Dr Stuffmann
Dr Stuffman is a great doctor. He performed surgery on my husbands dominate hand, and even diDC a video of what he did. He is extremely good at what he does. Professional and tells you what needs to happen in a way that helps you to understand everything he does. Every doctor we have seen at Webster Ortho has been steps above any other doctor I've seen. I have nothing but very high praise for them.
I saw Dr. Stuffman for a pinky injury that happened almost 20 years ago when I was playing basketball. I continued to play basketball until about 5 years ago, so I never really thought about getting the injury fixed since it was usable and I could still play sports. But now that I don't play and the injury recently started bothering me (some pain, but mostly it started locking up and interfering with me using my dominant hand), I thought I'd try to see an orthopedic surgeon to see what my options are. I am so happy I was referred to Dr. Stuffman. Right off the bat he was super friendly, smart and down to earth. He heard my history and was ready with three different options for my situation and was very blunt about his expectations from each (which is exactly what I wanted!). I kind of thought I was going to need surgery and it turns out I was right. He explained the procedure, and bring an orthopedic nurse, I had a lot of questions for him to fully understand my options. From my stand point he had all the time in the world to answer my questions (which is really nice, because some doctors make you feel like you're a burden when you have questions!). He was thorough and did an ultrasound on my pinky while I was in the office for that visit. I also met his PA, Steve, who was also really nice and friendly. From there, we scheduled the surgery and that was the next time I saw him! The surgery center they use in Fremont is really nice. Top of the line equipment and rooms, nurses were so nice, it was awesome. I saw Dr. Stuffman before they took me to the operating room because he was the one administering the anesthetic. He was just as bubbly as he was the first time I saw him. My procedure required local anesthetic (in my hand) but I stay awake for the whole thing. Officially it's called a WALANT procedure. I was really looking forward to that and expressed to Dr. Stuffman that I would like to see my finger once they opened it to operate. He was totally obliging! He also recorded my finger before and after they "fixed" it and eventually sent me the video of this as well! I thought that was pretty cool. I know most people don't want to see something like that, but I did, and it was great that he made it happen. The next two days I did feel quite a bit of pain, but I was given pain and nausea medication, and those took care of my during the recovery. I was scheduled for hand therapy, and that started about a week later. I saw Dr. Stuffman a few times during therapy and he was always ready to sit down and hear how I was doing. Now, my pinky is so much better than it was. There is a scar, but that'll go down over time, and I expected as much. It was very swollen in the beginning, for about the first few months, but now it looks pretty normal and similar to my other fingers. I highly recommend him! I even set my husband up with an appointment to have Dr. Stuffman look at his shoulder! He's somewhat of a miracle worker, so he might be able to work some magic for him as well!
Dr Stuffman is an awesome! He helped my son with his wrist problem. He is very smart and curing doctor. I highly recommend him. I am to glad my so was referred to him.
Not only is Dr Stuffmann the only orthopedic surgeon (and I've seen many) that has been able to remove the pain from my shoulder, but he has also helped the rest of my family who are every active. Whether it's myself, my wife (with her horse riding related injurires) or my kids (skiing etc) he treats each the same and is very dedicated in thoroughly assessing each situation. What I personally really like about Dr Stuffmann is that surgery is the last option and he actively explores all other possible remedies.
I had 3 visits to Dr. Stuffmann for different sport injuries (hand and elbow) and all went perfectly. Dr. Stuffmann, his assistant and front desk were professional. I'm glad I had them as my sport care orthopedics.
Dr. Eric Stuffman provided me with exemplary medical services during a time of need. From my first visit, he was very informative regarding the full scope of my injury. He discussed in detail the pros and cons of different treatment options, and allowed me to make the decision to go through with surgery from a point of view that felt well informed. I had a really good experience with the doctor, his physician's assistant, and his nurse - his entire team provided helpful information at different times and equally contributed to making my experience more comfortable. The recovery process was smooth, and exactly as Dr. Stuffman described it prior to the surgery. I was able to recover from the injury to my dominant hand without any major interruptions to my daily routines. The quality of service was exemplary; I highly recommend Dr. Stuffman.
I've seen Dr Stuffman once. He provided an alternative to surgery that has been very effective. He spent a good amount of time with me, explained things, and answered my questions.
I saw Dr. Stuffman yesterday for two little hard nodules on both my hands. His PA Steve came in first and we decided they were ganglions ( little cysts even though they were very hard ). So in comes Dr. Stuffman, what a wonderful man. We do the echo, and he took care of the one that was bothering me the most right then and there. He was ready to take care of the other one also, but with that anesthetic in my both hands I was scared I wouldn't be able to drive safely, so I opted only for the one side yesterday. I'll be back if the other one doesn't go away spontaneously real soon. Thanks Doc, I should have come see you a long time ago, my finger is normal again!
After having a complicated clavicle break I chose to see Dr. Stuffman because he was using a new technology that would have better results (clavicle nail). I did not expect to find such a skilled and reasonable doctor. He was extremely thorough and will make you a part of your treatment path. After having my second collarbone break (which took a long time to heal th 1st time), my recovery has been amazing. Was back to normal activity in less than 3 months.
My Trigger Tome procedure recommendation: I highly recommend Dr. Stuffmann to perform a trigger tome procedure if you are suffering from trigger finger. (Trigger finger is a painful condition that causes the finger or thumb to catch or lock when bent). The trigger tome procedure is minimally invasive and the recovery time is much faster than open surgery. It did not cost much and only took about 15-20 minutes. I drove myself home afterward and worked later that same day. I felt immediate relief after the procedure and my finger never locks anymore! My finger is still a little stiff in the morning time, but its getting more flexible every day. I am an x-ray tech and my job has a lot of repetitive motions. It's kind of a blue collar AND white collar job because I am constantly in motion, moving equipment around, positioning patients and, also, using a computer keyboard and mouse. For over a year, my index finger was either locking up or was very sore after minimal exertion at work. I did my research comparing recovery time of a traditional open surgery vs the trigger tome procedure. I chose the trigger tome option, mainly, because I could not afford to take any time off work. Another advantage is that he incision is so small. I only had a band aid over the incision site for several days after the surgery. This was important for work, because I have to wash my hands between each x-ray patient. Dr. Stuffmann and his staff did a great job. He is one of the very few doctors in California that perform the trigger tome procedure. The procedure is affordable, only takes a few minutes and is highly effective.
Dr. Stuffman was treating me for a broken wrist when the tendon to my thumb unexpectedly ruptured. This was an unforeseen side effect due to the location of the break. Fortunately I was under the care of Dr. Stuffman and Webster Orthopedics. Dr. Stuffman repaired the tendon utilizing the "WALANT" (Wide Awake Local Anesthesia No Tourniquet ) Surgery method. It was so cool. I was awake during the surgery and assisted with the surgery, sort of. Being awake during surgery, I was able to provide input to Dr. S so he could achieve the correct tension on the thumb tendon so I would regain full range of motion to the thumb. There was no pain or discomfort or post opt issues that often occur post anesthesia. I was in and out in 4 hours. Then I worked with Liz in the Webster Otho. Physical Therapy dept. She was great. She had me back to in action in 8 week. Overall a very good experience.
I saw Dr. Stuffmann after fracturing and dislocating my wrist. My husband and I appreciated his explaining my injury and my need for surgery, illustrating what was going to be done with xrays from patients who had similar injuries to mine. The surgery, which was done at the Fremont Surgery Center, went very well, and although it's taken a few weeks to recover and will take more rehab to be fully mobile, I am extremely happy with the outcome. I highly...more than highly...recommend Dr. Stuffmann. Kudos also go to his assistants who are efficient and kind.
Dr. Stuffmann is fantastic! I broke my hip July 14 2016, had no orthopedic surgeon ln file, so was assigned to him, willy-nilly, out of the blue, as the orthopedist on duty at the hospital that day. We became not only patient-doctor, but fast-friends. He is super-competent. personable, and attentive. Then I learned he is a star in his field. I was so lucky!!! I would never go to anyone else.
Dr. Stuffman performed a TOME trigger finger surgery for me. I am from Seattle. I did my research online and found a new procedure for trigger finger surgery that is less invasive, less expensive, and takes less time to heal than the traditional trigger finger surgery. There were no doctors in Seattle yet qualified for this new technique so I flew down from Seattle to his office in Dublin, CA and had the surgery done in his office. I found Dr. Stuffman to be very personable and very conscientious. The surgery went well and I was very pleased with the entire process.
I visited Dr. Stuffmann to treat my kid who broke his left forearm. I visited him 4 times already. He is easy to approach and very detailed. He always explains me with his findings in X-ray, his opinion and his plan to review it. During my 2nd visit, he felt the angulation on my kid's forearm is increased and i was worried. Though he is confident it will change course in time, he immediately followed up with a pediatrician to ensure his thought is correct. I am confident that my kid will heal completely and i will recommend Dr. Stuffmann for others in need
Dr Eric Stuffmann is easily the best Orthopedic Surgeon I've seen (and I've seen quite a few thanks to various sport injuries). Not only is he very personable, he is very detailed and takes his time to explain each detail to you. He's the first doctor after seeing many that was able to remove the pain from my shoulder (after several dislocations and broken clavicle (twice). I recommend him without doubt!
I came to see Dr. Stuffman after I broke several bones. I waited less than 5 minutes to see him and he quickly ordered X-rays and diagnosed the injury and placed me in a splint. He explained in detail my injury and when I could expect to be back at work. He definitely knows what he is doing and I feel confident in his ability and treatment. He is also a friendly and pleasant guy, if I ever hurt myself again I will come back to Dr. Stuffman. I definitely recommend him to family and friends.

I wish there were more than five stars because thanks to him my life is so much better than before . I'm an maintenance machinist with a mechanical engineering background,I look at things in a mechanical standpoint so I ask many questions he was so nice to answer all my questions and related to me in a sense that I understood completely, I have never had surgery of any kind before so I was understandably scared and nervous. After seeing him and talking to him he was so thorough and comforting, he took so much time with me. I felt good about him doing my surgery, he is on top of his game with all the latest technology. Dr Stuffmann is an amazing surgeon. If God forbid I ever need orthopedic surgery again it will only be him. I did get two other options but they were not even close to me letting them do my surgery, in the future I my need a complete shoulder reversal, and as always he has taken a lot of time explaining the process and the reason for a reversal , this is years away but he still has spent very much time letting me completely understand and detailed every aspect of this. Again I wish there were ten stars because he would get all ten. I can't say enough about him. You should all see for yourself. Don't pass him by because there's only one chance to get it right.
I selected Dr. Stuffmann to do the surgery on my torn tendon in my left arm. He did a fantastic job and I am extremely grateful to him and his office for taking good care of me and for the excellent job he did in repairing my bicep. This is type of doctor and office that you want when you need orthopedic surgery and assistance. They really pay attention and give you the type of old-fashioned attention and care that every patient desires. Plus, they have freshly made cookies, which really gives the place a homey feel. I give them my highest recommendation.

I sit here one day post-op with minimal discomfort (OTC Ibuprofen handles it nicely), and 90% of my numb hand is back to normal. Even though he predicted a two week recovery, I’m headed to my office on Monday, three days post-op. Thank you Dr. Stuffmann
I’ve seen many orthopedic surgeons and Dr Stuffmann is the only one that has been able to remove the pain from my shoulder (which I’ve injured many times). I highly recommend Dr Stuffmann and his team.
I can now do daily things without pain. The pain on the outside of my elbow is nearly gone and now I plan to go back and get another injection on the inside of my elbow. THANK YOU!!
