Dr. Pecci Boosts Sports Injury Care
Golden State Orthopedics & Spine adds a noted sports medicine physician to its staff, increasing its commitment to the sports community in the East Bay Area
WALNUT CREEK, CA (December 29, 2013) —Matthew Pecci, M.D., a family physician and a sports medicine specialist from Boston, has joined the staff of Golden State Orthopedics & Spine (GSOS). The addition of Dr. Pecci strengthens the Walnut Creek-based practice’s strong involvement in sports medicine. Dr. Pecci’s focus is in non-operative treatment of sports medicine injuries and the management of medical issues in athletes, including advanced concussion management.

Dr. Pecci is board certified in both sports medicine and family medicine. He is a graduate of Boston College and obtained his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He was a resident at UCLA Family Medicine Residency in Los Angeles and completed his fellowship in sports medicine at Ohio State University.
He was the Director of Sports Medicine at Boston University and the founder and Director of Boston University’s Primary Care Sports Medicine fellowship. Under Dr. Pecci’s direction, Boston University sports medicine physicians provided medical coverage for athletics at Boston College, MIT, UMass Boston, Emerson College, Pine Manor College, and many Boston public high schools.
Dr. Pecci has also been involved with such large-scale athletic events as the Boston Marathon, AVP volleyball and U.S.A gymnastics. He will continue his involvement in school athletics and other athletic events in the East Bay Area.
Through the Organized Sport Partnership Program, specialty-trained sports physicians from GSOS provide athletic training services to several local high schools. The program also offers physician and athletic trainer sideline coverage to local sports teams and at sporting events throughout the community.
