Golden State Orthopedics & Spine Sponsoring Two California Triathlon Events
California Sprint and California International Southwest Championships to be held June 29 and 30 in Pleasanton
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (June 28, 2013) — Golden State Orthopedics & Spine is not only providing platinum sponsorship for the California Sprint Triathlon and the California International Triathlon, they’re also providing their own Dr. Donald M. Lewis as a contestant. He’ll join the field of triathletes testing their speed and stamina in Shadow Cliff Lake and the surrounding Livermore Valley.
The California Sprint Triathlon on June 29 is a half-mile swim, a 14-mile bike ride and a 3.1-mile run open to individual and team competitors age 14 and up. The California International Triathlon the next day, June 30, increases the challenge with a 1.5-kilometer swim, a 40-K bike ride and a 10-K run.
Cyclists in the two triathlons will speed around Livermore Valley vineyards on a fast and safe bike course. Announcers will call the races, winners will receive nice medals, and everyone will enjoy a post-race party with free catered food, recovery drinks, great music and more.
Contestants in 14 age brackets can register in the following categories for both Triathlons:
- Individual
- Youth (18 and under)
- Military/Fire/Police
- Triathlon Clubs (2013 Tri Club Challenge Series)
- Aqua-Bike (swim-bike)
- Pro/Elite
- Relay (male, female or coed 2- or 3-person team)
- Clydesdale (males over 220 lbs.)
- Athena (females over 165 lbs.)
- Mountain Bike (Sprint Triathlon only).
